How to Apply for the Year of Assistance

The next deadline for applications to the Spring 2008 Year of Assistance will begin in January, 2008. We look forward to receiving your application next year!

Early submissions are welcome. You may apply using any of the following methods:

  • Email the application (as an attachment) to apply@t4tchicago.org.
  • Fax the application with a cover sheet: 312-669-7824
  • Mail or drop off the application:

Who can apply:

Agencies applying to the Assistance Program must be:
  • Human service agencies in the greater Metropolitan Chicago Area that are accessible by CTA
  • 501(c)3 tax exempt organizations
  • Non-sectarian, non-denominational, and non-discriminatory in their charter, mission, and objectives and in the treatment of their staff and constituents

We cannot accept applications for any of the following:
  • Endowments and private foundations that are themselves grant-making organizations
  • Organizations that violate IBMs principles and philosophies*
  • Organizations whose primary purpose is to promote political views, influence legislation or support candidates for public office
  • Religious, political and fraternal organizations
  • Organizations that have previously participated in Teaming for Technology Assistance Program

*IBM does not make equipment donations or grants from corporate philanthropic funds to:
  • Individuals, political, labor, religious, or fraternal organizations or sports groups
  • Fund-raising events such as raffles, telethons, walk-a-thons or auctions
  • Capital campaigns, construction and renovation projects
  • Chairs, endowments or scholarships sponsored by academic or nonprofit institutions
  • Special events such as conferences, symposia or sports competitions
  • Organizations that discriminate in any way against any race, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation


Agencies that become involved with Teaming for Technology must demonstrate:

  • Potential:
    We value agencies with the potential to grow, to build their capacity to serve the communities of Chicago, and to better fulfill their missions through the aid of T4T.
  • Commitment:
    We value agencies who display both ambition and dedication toward utilizing T4T as a resource in changing the way they view and use technology in their organization. Commitment includes understanding the importance of planning for the future, completing and using a technology plan, and measuring and evaluating the impact we have on their organization.
  • Impact:
    We value agencies who have a strong, positive impact on the communities they serve, are motivated to increase this impact, and have the ability to demonstrate or articulate this impact.



Review Process:

Each application will be reviewed by the Teaming for Technology staff. Staff members may conduct site visits at agencies that are likely candidates for the Assistance Program. Following the site visits, staff will make its final selection of agencies and notify all agencies of the final decisions..

Agencies are accepted to the Assistance Program for a one year term.
