Our Services |
We offer the following services to organizations enrolled in our Year of Assistance program:
Technology Planning and ConsultingBefore any other services (except software training classes) can be completed, all Year of Assistance partner agencies must complete the technology planning process. This includes a 2 hour workshop designed to guide the agency through creating a successful plan. After the first draft is submitted, Team members will visit the site, take a tour of the facility, and help the agency make adjustments to their plan. After revisions are made, agencies submit the final draft to the Team, and can begin submitting project proposals to utilize our other services. | Volunteer RecruitmentAs part of our Year of Assistance program, we match volunteers in the community to agencies' technology projects. Volunteers sign up through our website, submit their resumes, and speak with our volunteer coordinator. We then place them on a project we feel is suited for their skill level. We also train volunteers who have a working knowledge of a project, but may need a little more instruction.
Volunteers range from college students looking for experience, to professionals who want to give back to the community, or sometimes technology enthusiasts who don't get to use their skills as often as they'd like.
| Network Installation and TrainingAre you still saving files to a disk, and handing it to your co-worker? Or maybe e-mailing files back and forth to each other? This has been one of our more popular requests from agencies in the past. We recruit experienced volunteers from the community, or train interested volunteers who may have some skills, but need further guidance to do network installation. | Web DesignIt has become crucial for nonprofits to have an Internet presence. Websites are useful for information sharing, attracting sponsors , volunteers, donations, and providing resources. We are typically successful at locating volunteers to design websites for agencies. We ask that agencies are prepared to sketch out exactly what they are looking for their website to do for their organization, and features they desire, in order for us to match a volunteer appropriately.
| Software TrainingAs part of our Year of Assistance program, we offer free software training to our partner agency's staff members. Typically, we hold three traingings a month, based on demand. We allow 2 staff members per agency to attend a training at a time. If needed, we can arrange a class specifically to fit the training needs of your organization's staff. If your organization has a lab, our volunteers can come out and train staff at your site. Currently we offer basic computer trainings (orientation of the computer, file sharing, Internet browsing, etc.), Quickbooks, and varied levels of trainings in the Microsoft Office Suite. In the near future, we look to add trainings in and about various open source software, such as: the OpenOffice Suite (which is compatible with Microsoft Office documents), and various Linux distributions. Our curricula can be copied and redistributed throughout your organization, and we encourage staff to do so! On occasion, we also hold informational seminars on topics such as prevention of SPAM, viruses, and spyware, and are always open to topic suggestions for both classes and seminars! | Database Design | Hardware DonationsCurrently, we donate a limited amount of refurbished computers to our Year of Assistance agencies, which we occasionally receive from other businesses and organizations. Some of our most popular requests are for machines to be used as servers. | Low-cost Resource MatchingThe Team has a great working knowledge of technology resources for nonprofit organizations. If there is something specific you are looking to purchase, or need help finding a place that may fund technology, our members can research and help match resources for your organization. Also, take a look at our resources link on our website.
In addition, Teaming for Technology has two great technology provider sponsorships which are available to all partner agencies if they would like access to them. MidPhase, a local web hosting company has offered our agencies free web hosting. The service is free indefinitely, unless the ownership or structure of the company changes. Also, we have a sponsorship through Cbeyond Communications, which offers free T-1 Internet service, and up to 5 phone lines for the first year. After that, it is half-price for the next 2 years. After three years, the agency has the option to renew the contract. |
